UNDER THE HOOD

The Dollar Coin

Penny Potgieger may have lost an opportunity at the Formula-X Throne, but she has not lost her racing spirit. In the week leading up to last night’s episode of Fuel, F-X reporters were able to catch up with the F-X racer to find out more about her vehicle, the DOLLAR COIN.

Diving straight into it, we asked where she came up with the name and what the story was behind the very patriotic color scheme. “The name came about as a play on my nickname being penny which led to Dollar Coin. As for the color scheme, I was never going for the South African colors but rather colors associated with money, being green and gold, which I guess was continuing the theme there.”

When we asked her why she joined the F-X series, Penny told us that there is surprisingly little opportunities in South Africa to break into open-wheel racing and that F-X sounded like something fresh and new and she figured why not.

In regards to her race  on the upcoming episode, Penny said that she wasn’t worried and was going to trust the skills that had gotten her that far. Penny’s race against Styles in last night’s episode can be seen on the Formula-X Streaming Service.
