THE RACING DIARIES

The One Kilometer Derby

After one of the most dramatic and unexpected events to happen on the Fuel Speedway which resulted in John Kloof chasing Jim Kieck around the Oval and the rest of the airport, Glen put a stop it and the entire rivalry by announcing a new kind of race that will take place at the next PPV: the One-KM Derby.

When we caught up to Glen and asked him just what this kind of race was about, he told us it wasn’t a race… it was a derby.

“The One Kilometer Derby is a contest that we consider to be a test of fortitude in the F-X series. The derby gets it’s name from being exactly 1 kilometer in length. However what sets this contest apart isn’t it’s length or number of participants. It’s that a derby is always done for stakes. Both parties have to put up something which is what makes the derby carry so much weight.”

It has been noticed by fans and us alike that this derby has a remarkable resemblance to a classic horse race all the way down to its name. When we asked Glen about this, he didn’t deny it.
