Now that we are 3 PPVs down in the F-X series, it’s safe to say that the fans have figured a few things out. However one thing that still gnaws at them is the nature of an F-X racer ‘playing’ reserve on a PPV.
It has been well documented that F-X racers don’t get a free pass to a PPV simply because they’re on the roster. Instead they have to earn their spot either by having drawing power or having a winning record.
Glenwood Jacobs has gone on record in this week’s Q&A session that drawing power is the name of the game. F-X racers themselves like Touch Mkhize have gone on record saying that racers need to make an impact..

So what happens to F-X racers, not on the PPV racecard? They’re made reserves. ‘Playing’ reserve, as its called, apparently means that the F-X racer is on standby to replace any F-X racer already on the card if they are unable to compete. It is clear that being reserve is not a sought after position and F-X racers will fight to avoid the distinction.
