INTERVIEW WITH A FREELANCER

Since the beginning of Monday Night Fuel, there have always been more than one class of F-X racer. There’s a feature-racer and then there’s the rest. But many have asked about these other guys who show up on the racecard and then are never seen again.

What we’ve learnt so far is that they are called freelancers and they are given a race  against a member of the roster for a small fee and  a chance to show the country what they’re made of. But the fans wanted to know more so we managed to get a 1-on-1 exclusive with The Caliber Kid.

We asked him how he ended up in a race on Monday Night Fuel. “Well, my mechanic told me about the show and that the Commissioners — as you call them — were holding tryouts for anyone wanting to show F-X what they had. I did well in the tryouts back on the Club Circuit and they said I could get a race.”

The Caliber Kid went on to explain that he compares the freelance gig to being a jobber in wrestling: “it’s not meant to usher you into this world but rather give you good experience.”

While the Caliber Kid put on a good performance, he was no match for the formidable Thawn Oberhauser. We hope that the race gave him the experience that he’d hoped for.
